This class is designed for young artists to explore the world of art as they experiment and learn about a variety of art mediums while painting, drawing, designing, and building. Basic techniques and skills will be offered, and students are welcome to work at their own pace. Please bring a paint shirt or apron for your child to wear during the week when needed. 

Have fun being with other animal lovers as you learn basic techniques to draw, paint and sculpt your favorite animals and their habitats. Learn approaches in both cartooning and realistic styles. Reference images of animals will be provided but feel free to bring any photos or images that inspire you!

This fun class will explore the world of sculpture through a variety of media and approaches. Students will learn to use clay, wood, wire, found objects and more as they sculpt from their imaginations and the world around them.

Wondering what to do with all your favorite stuffies or stuffed animals? Bring them to art class and create a variety of art inspired by and for them! Students will create drawings and trading cards of their stuffies and make accessories for them out of oven bake clay and other fun materials. We will have a stuffie party the last day! There will be some new projects that differ from last year.

This class explores fun techniques with watercolor, acrylic, markers, pastels, pencils and more! Students will be able to work at their own pace and are encouraged to take the projects in their own direction.

Cartoons can be anything—people, animals, food or objects! Have fun drawing and exploring simple ways to use your imagination to create your own characters, expressions, features and personalities. Learn ways to turn your cartoons into simple comic strips and comic books if you wish. Sculpt your characters out of clay and bring them to life with simple stop-motion animation.

Located at Sleepy Hollow Arts Park, this class will immerse students in the outdoors as they create works of art inspired by and with natural materials. Draw, paint, collage, and build! 

The class will be held under the big park shelter at Sleepy Hollow near the bathrooms, and we will take daily nature walks. Please bring sunscreen, snacks, water and appropriate clothing for your child. 

In this one-day hands-on workshop, students will dive into the playful world of puppetry! We’ll explore different types of puppets—hand, rod, and marionette—and learn how they’re made and used.

Students will choose their favorite style and create their own unique, handmade puppet using a variety of materials. Along the way, we’ll experiment with storytelling, character, and movement, and finish the day by bringing our puppets to life in a short performance using a small puppet theatre. 

In this one-day creative workshop, students will design and make their very own handmade books!

We’ll explore a variety of book styles and techniques, and each student will choose the format that best fits their idea. What goes inside is completely up to them—students might write and illustrate a story, fill their book with songs or jokes, use it as a journal, create a special gift, or even leave it blank for future inspiration.

We’ll experiment with softcover and hardcover books, accordion folds, and scrolls. With so many possibilities, every book will be one of a kind!
